You could probably disconnect the battery and plug the charger into the Chromebook and if that doesn't work, you need a screen replacement. it could be a possible issue with the screen if it's broken because if you damage the screen enough, it will turn black with no signs of life or it could possibly be disconnected. If the screen works without the battery, You need to replace the battery if it won't hold a charge and try the hard reset method by pressing the refresh button and the power button and if that works, you're good to go!

Hello Jairo,

If the device is flashing orange and is plugged in, this may be a battery issue.

You can also try a force restart to test it further. You can do this by pressing and immediately releasing the "refresh" key and the power key simultaneously. If the device still doesn't power on, you may need to replace the battery.

Best of luck.

According to Dell, a blinking orange battery/status light indicates a battery error, so yeah, replacing the battery would be the next logical step.

HP chromebooks too!

When my chromebook is plugged in with orange light(mine was solid). and won't turn on, I have found the "force start" by pressing refresh and power button for a short simultaneous push works for the hp chromebook as well! Thank you!

You can also disconnect the battery to reset it and plug it back in, you have to plug it back in to rest the battery. alot of people think the power button is to turn it on "NOT so" you are just shutting it off again.

When you open your chromebook that is how it turrns on.

This doesn't seem helpful since the original poster specifically said they had charged it overnight.
