Every vehicle marketed for the USA performs emissions self tests every time the engine is started, vehicle driven. When battery power is disconnected, emissions parameters are erased from memory. Do not disconnect battery power again. You'll have to drive your car in varied conditions; stop and go traffic, highway, etc. Just drive the car normally for a few days and if you have a reader, plug it in to display whether or not readiness monitors have passed (coolant temps, O2 sensors cycling, etc.). Good readers will display readiness monitors and display READY or NOT READY. There are around 8-11 monitors. If you have Autozone nearby, free readings can help determine if your vehicle has met emissions for state inspection. Up to 50 miles of driving in varied conditions may be needed for emissions self tests to meet programmed emissions. Another way to tell if your car is ready for emissions inspection; after driving several days, the check engine light should turn off on its own. Do not disconnect battery or use a reader to reset the check engine light as this forces the entire emissions self tests to start all over again.
