My daughter dropped her iPod touch and now the screen is white and flickering. We can still use everything behind the white that we can see, but how can we get rid of the white flickering screen?

Start off by trying a reset followed by a restore."Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until either the Apple logo or battery symbol appears. If the battery symbol appears, continue to charge iPod touch until it is fully charged." and restore "Before restoring your iOS device, Apple recommends that you either sync with iTunes to transfer any purchases you have made, or back up new data (data acquired after your last sync).

Follow these steps to restore your device:

Verify that you are using the latest version of iTunes before attempting to update.

Connect your device to your computer.

Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch when it appears in iTunes under Devices.

Select the Summary tab.

Select the Restore option.

When prompted to back up your settings before restoring, select the Back Up option. If you have just backed up the device, it is not necessary to create another.

Prompt text: "Do you want to back up the settings for the iPod before restoring the sofware?"

Select the Restore option when iTunes prompts you (as long as you've backed up, you should not have to worry about restoring your iOS device).

Prompt text: "Are you sure you want to restore the iPod to its factory settings? All of your mnedia and other date will be erased."

When the restore process has completed, the device restarts and displays the Apple logo while starting up:

Prompt text: "Your iPod has been successfully restored to factory settings, and is restarting. Please leave your iPod connected. It will appear in the iTunes window after it restarts."

After a restore, the iOS device displays the "Connect to iTunes" screen. For updating to iOS 5 or later, follow the steps in the iOS Setup Assistant. For earlier versions of iOS, keep your device connected until the "Connect to iTunes" screen goes away or you see "iPhone is activated."

The final step is to restore your device from a previous backup."

all this information is available right here. Give it a try and see what you got. Worst case scenario, you will have to open the iPod and check for any loose or tore connection/cable or you might have to replace the front display. You can find the guides for your iPod right here. Hope this helps, good luck.

The same thing happens to my ipod touch 4th gen. What usually works for me is to adjust the brightness, the higher i keep my brightness the less it occurs. When my brightness is low it sometimes begins to act up and flicker at random moments. Hope this is helpful to you.
