My partners Ipod touch screen will not unlock and resetting it has not worked, about a year ago I found a trick on the web where you use your fingers somehow on the screen and this worked well but I cannot find the link again? Can anyone help?

Never heard of the "fingers technique" before but if it's not unlocking I would start by replacing the digitizer.
If it doesn't get fixed then it should be a harder problem to fix, you might have to replace the flex cable which is very hard.
