CRT white balance is not stable

Hello, I got a Sony Trinitron KV-21CL10B for retro gaming (EU-PAL mostly). I noticed that the white balance changes according to the image on the screen and colors are off according to the prevalent color on screen.

Let's say I'm playing Super Mario 64 and there's lot of grass in the the screen, everything looks green-ish, if I move where water/sky is in sight everything looks blue-ish, same if red colors are prevalent on screen.
I also have a 2nd TV where colors are perfect and the issue happens with all systems I plug to TV, also with signals coming from the TV tuner.

Is there any affordable way to fix it? Sony Trinitron are supposed to be the best systems to run games on, it's a pity to send it for recycling.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Hi @veetee

Here's how to adjust the white balance for the TV from the service manual.

The test equipment required to do this is on p.8. (actually is p.12 in the manual but p.8 in the page links above the pages).

Perhaps also check the components especially the capacitors (C787, C753, C751 & C781) associated with the RGB-Out IC751 as seen on p.29 (p.30 in manual)

FYI do not be confused regarding the model number of the TV as shown on the top of the page linked above. The manual also includes your model. See p.1 of the manual for the list of models covered by the manual

Note: Take heed of the CAUTION and WARNINGS on p.3 in the manual, regarding working on the TV
