loud snapping cracking sounds every now and then

I have the same problem, the monitor would make loud snapping cracking sounds every now and then. Is there anyway to check the Caps or resistor visually as I'm not an electrical engineer, but can sort of solder a component if I need to.

Ian D. Mah let us know what model your monitor is. you can also post pictures of your boards with your QUESTION. That way we can actually help you a bit better by pointing to things etc. Adding images to an existing question

Hi Ian,

The visual check for blown electrolytic capacitors is to check the top of the cylinder. It should be flat with an 'X' shape in it. When they go out, typically the top will be bulged up and sometimes the X will even open up.

Resistors are harder, as an ohmmeter is normally used to check them, but for a visual inspection you're looking for any signs of heat damage; typically discolored or blackened components on the board.
