My 7th gen iPod classic will only charge with a dock.

(UPDATE: i can plug it into itunes, so i guess its not that bad? STILL LOOKING FOR SOLUTIONS!!!)

i dropped my ipod yesterday, wasnt a far drop either. it was from my lap to floor and my headphones almost saved it. i went to plug it in last night and it wouldn’t charge with a normal cord, only a dock (iHome). i have no clue on how to repair ipods so should i just save up for a new one?

@hellomacos when i get home again i’ll definitely try itunes, although i dont know if itll recognize the ipod (thats the issue, the ipod doesnt even recognize that its been plugged in). when you say reset do you mean like FULLY reset it? like wipe everything?

by

@autismgerard

Yes

I mean fully wipe it

Have you tried a reboot?

(Menu+middle)

Rebooting rarely works ,every time I have seen this issue it’s ether charging related or a full reset through iTunes or finder fixes it:-)

@autismgerard

That’s good that it’s working and charging now

It’s up to you but reseting it might get the correct charging icon to appear

Like I said absolutely no pressure on resetting it, up to you:-)

Thanks:-)

i think i fixed it. before i simply had a charger hub i was using to charge my stuff, and i used a usb port to charge it. once plugged into a charger box to a normal socket, it works just fine. instead of a lightning bolt it shows a plug (ie. laptop charger, the part you plug into a wall) though @hellomacos
