I presume that you have checked the brightness. Ate got receiving any backlight at all it is it completely blank except in the light? Does it happen whenever it first boots up or when it is loaded into the OS? Also, what OS is it running?

djamexmela93 if your computer is a Dell 700m then you need to remember that it is a CCFL backlight. Your computer will have an inverter to power it. In your case it could be a bad inverter or a bad CCFL (most likely). The CCFL is in the display. Something like this video will help you to remove the screen. After that you will have to take the panel apart. Check on here about how to get the panel apart. For the inverter, download the service manual from here to get to that.
