Why do I have high rev but accelerate normal?

When pressing pedal a little far down high rev and fan noise comes on then stops when going over 30 mph but accelerates normal whole time . basically started making more noise then normally.

If the brakes are working correctly and parking brake is released, the car should move forward or backwards with xmission in neutral. This should verify brakes aren't interfering with driving. Next may be a xmission problem with low xmission fluid, worn out xmission or other issues related to older vehicles.
