Fix worn out ABXY buttons (switches/contacts?)

My ABXY buttons, particularly A are not responding well. Needs too much pressure to register an input.

How would you fix that? Are there just contacts and a spring that need to be cleaned? Or are there switches that you can buy separately and replace (if so I couldn't find any)? Or would you need an entirely new board?

@theunit19 could be the plastic switches that you push down on a membrane. Take a look at this video and at 8:00 you see what those look like. You see where the membrane close the switches when depressed. Sort of like the buttons on a remote. You can clean those with a pencil eraser and some isopropyl alcohol. Replacing the plastic push buttons may also help. these guides will help you to work on your controller Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 (Model 1797)

Thank you! I will try that once I get the right tools.

At first I did clean the switches both on the board and on the rubber part with isopropyl and some cotton swabs (forgot about the pencil eraser). It helped for about 3 weeks.

I just got a replacement for the rubber switch part for just 5€ and it seems to work nicely.

@theunit19 excellent. GReat when a good plan comes together. Remember, REPAIR IS WAR ON ENTROPY! :-)

ALSO! Be sure to update your controller's FW via the "Xbox Accessories" app on PC available through the Microsoft Store.

I think xbox does this automatically? Maybe if you plug it in?
