What does the pins do?

I am moving my legion t530-28icb to a new chassi. But when I look on the motherboard I can figure it where power, reset, led and hdd led goes. I now sort of what clusters of pins, but I don’t know what pin is minus or plus or whatever. The board doesn’t say.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Hi,

Which header pins do you mean?

If it is for a fan or a LED light, then if they're reversed, for a fan it will run in the reverse direction (or not at all) so maybe sucking air in rather than blowing air out and if a LED light then it won't turn on

Here's the hardware maintenance manual that shows what and where all the motherboard connections are, although admittedly not how to correctly connect to them. Go to p.22 and the top of p.23 for your particular model motherboard.

The pins for the front panel, power button and so on. And the manual does not show what each separate pin does. And I can’t connect them without that info.

here's a link that may help if they're wired the same way for the panel headers that is. Maybe try just one connecting one pair of wires first e.g power button wires or HDD LED wires.

If no good you may have to find the schematics for the motherboard to find out what each pin does.

What is the motherboard's make and model number which is usually printed onthe board?

Here's a link to the schematics that should help.

Unfortunately you have to buy it, but at least it might take the guesswork out of finding the pin layout.
