armcomdes that means your backlight has failed. You would have to disassemble it and check to see if you have appropriate power on the connector. If yes you know it is the backlight inside the panel that has failed. If not then you will have to check the backlight circuit on your logic board. Let us know what number the LCD display is and post some good pictures of your logicboard so we can see what you see Adding images to an existing question - iFixit Repair Guide. Come to think about it, the data cable has been stretched taut for a while now. So I'll check the attachment points inside first. It is an A1316. It went black. After some fiddling it came back on but 80% brightness. I couldn't find where to adjust brightness. The next day it went black again, this time I think for good (still could see the background with a flashlight). Haven't opened the display up yet. I was info loading beforehand to get an idea of what to look for, or if it was a lost cause. It is one of two displays in my setup so I am still functioning, but I would love to fix it. Thanks you for the suggestions.

The display model number is A1316. At the moment my other identical monitor is doing the same thing intermittently. If the screen is black when it starts up in the morning, I unplug and re-plug it one or three times and it comes back on... albeit at @90% brightness. Are there Backlight units/boards for sale? Or is it a repair? I've read if a certain capacitor is swollen and can be replaced to fix everything.

@armcomdes "albeit at @90% brightness" sounds like bad back light strips. The strips are getting scarce but are still available at some sites. WE would need to know the exact panel your monitor has installed.

It's been some time now. I don't turn the computer off and the monitor is fine. If I have to reboot the system, I will have to unplug and plug the monitor several time before it comes back to life. Then I'm fine until the next reboot.

@armcomdes check your power board for solder defects and degraded components like bad capacitors or FET's. Also, as usual , check the wiring.
