i also did the same thing that you did when i was putting on my new screen and when i tested the screen to see if it worked before i put it all back together the charging battery came up and then the screen whent white can anybody help me please is it that i tore that cable or is there something else wrong

Have you tried to RESET the iPod - press and hold the power AND home buttons for 10 seconds till it reboots
