HP's G72 laptop has a high-definition 17.3" diagonal display, a stylish design and decent specifications. It also makes a decent budget desktop replacement

I have been trying to find the bottom base for the G72 with the 5 screws as displayed in this walkthrough. HP G72 Keyboard Replacement I have had zero success. Does anyone know where to find this part?

@echbearsfan it is not quit clear which cover you are referring too. You can post some pictures of it with your QUESTION. That way we can see what you see and hopefully help you further. the other way would be to download the service manual for your computer from here Go through the parts list to find the HP Part number for that cover. With that do an online search and see what you find.

The only listed Base enclosure for use with:

● Biscotti computer models with HDMI card reader, without modem 616485-001

● Matte black models with HDMI card reader, without modem 616489-001

● Charcoal models with HDMI card reader, without modem (for models 1.1 and 1.2 only) 616488-001

None of them seem to have the 5 hole pattern. see if you have an exact model number anywhere on your computer.

If nothing else I suggest that you contact HP directly to get the right part number.

The bottom base cover. I have found the one for the models with the four screws at the front but not the five. I have gotten the manual as well and searched all the part numbers but come up dry. It is really frustrating. The computer works great but the left hinge support is toast.

@echbearsfan

Just verifying that it is a G72 laptop?

I can't see an info label with the details on the base where it usually is so was wondering it it was something else.

Presumably you also checked in Win OS System Information to make sure, is this correct?

If it is there then also check what the "HP product number" is as well.

When you have the product number check on the partsurfer.hp.com website to find the part numbers for all the parts applicable to your exact model.
