Known as the ''PS2'', it is a sixth-generation video game console first released by Sony in Japan in March 2000. The United States saw it later in 2000 with the SCPH-30000. Repair of this device requires only common tools, but can get tricky.

Identify ps2 laser in ps2 slim 90001

The question says it all. I have a playstation 2 slim series 90001 and the laser no longer works, meaning that the system will not read games anymore. Not a big deal, but I'm confused about the right part to get.

A lser compatiblity guide says that the slim 9000 series uses a 182W laser, but on amazon, the info says a 802W laser. The only info that I have is in the picutures which leads me to the amazon.com page.

@gamekid for now you know your assembly is a KHM430 which is manufactured by Sony. You do know that it is also interchangeable with the Mitsumi made PVR802W. Anyhow, I would go ahead and purchase the KHM430 that you did find. I am not convinced that the laser wattage is described correctly. It will help if you can let us know what model the actual drive is.

I did some research and on https://store.richspsxparts.com/slps2dir..., it talks about the laser part that I have mentioned. You identify the model number that is circled in yellow.

I also know that some solder has to be taken off. Disregard the laser comparability guide that I mentioned earlier. Hopefully this info clears up any confusion that anyone else might have.
