Truck will not start, died in parking lot wile pulling into a spot

My son (16) got himself this hobby truck. (1997 ranger) He was learning to drive in a parking lot (it’s manual). He killed it pulling into a parking spot, and now it will not start. It is getting power from the battery to the cab/dash display. However the engine makes no sounds, does not click, doesn’t try to turn over, nothing. What should he look at? This mom knows nothing about fixing vehicles.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Everyone starting out learning how to drive a manual usually kills the engine with no harm. No starter sounds suggests; dead battery, loose/corroded battery cables and their connections, worn out starter.

@mikesride "the engine makes no sounds, does not click, doesn’t try to turn over, nothing" make sure that you check the clutch safety switch, besides all of those great things previously mentioned. A failed switch would have all of those symptoms as well. Should be pretty close to something like this
