Usage?, bad battery? If it’s barely a year old is there any remaining warranty on it? I’d speak to ifixit and see if they can help. Aftermarket batteries never seem to last like genuine ones.

Sadly, time also kills batteries! While the cycle count is not very high, the age of the battery tells us its older than the system!

So clearly this is a wacky battery! Besides the design capacity shouldn't be this low within a year.

Contact the iFixit store to get a replacement make sure you post your receipt. So they can see between this Coconut Battery screen snapshot this is just not possible logically.

  • MacBook Pro - 2017
  • Batteries Date - 2013 ??

Hi Nick! @danj is right about all this. Please reach out to our Customer Support team with the details he listed.

What operating system are you running? Anything Big Sur and aft er can have screwy dates as far as Coconut battery (and other things that look at battery health.) The battery cells would definitely have been new when you bought it last year, but it is not impossible that the IC could have been older and the date is being read from the IC.
