My mic doesnt work
it has a pretty cracked screen. the rep at the t-mobile store said that often this problem is solved by replacing the cracked screen. thoughts? thanks!!!!!

no, almost.
The question is which mic does't work. In your model (iPhone 7) you have 3 mics: #1 main (on the bottom), #2 FaceTime mic located near ear speaker and #3 R.Cam on the back, between cam and flash. Test the sound of your handset and check the voice recordings (video recordings with voice). On this checking should build a diagnose. Nothing less, nothing more.

Microphone or ear speaker? People come into my work all the time calling the ear speaker the microphone. If you cannot hear anything then you’d need either a new speaker or a new front camera ribbon which has the speaker connections on it. I’d buy both as they aren’t expensive. If people can’t hear you then you need a new charging port which has the microphone attached to it, hope this helps.
