How to remove the egr valve on my 1998 vw gti vr6

The EGR VALVE on my 1998 golf gti vr6 is located in front of the engine and I am trying to find a step by step instructions on how to remove it so I can clean it.Please help.

The EGR valve on your VW is also known as Kombi-Valve or Secondary Air Injection Valve. In general the EGR valve is not a serviceable part. As you can see from the images on your other question, it is a a sealed component and does not really allow you any access to the working parts.The only thing that you can try and do is to clean the passages from excessive carbon buildup. You would do that with some carb cleaner.
