Can I use display assembly from iMac 2011 model?

My current display on my 2010 imac 27” model become discoloration on edges, but I do have a good working display removed from 2011 model, can I replace it with this model (by switching the display/video cable from the display panel)? Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Answer this question I have this problem too

@lovecd the 2010 uses an LG # LM270WQ1(SD)(C2) panel and the 2011 a LG # LM270WQ1 (SD)(E3) You’ll have to check the data-sheets to see if there are wiring differences on the connector. The displays from 2009-2012 essentially remained unchanged, however, small differences were made with the actual connector over the years. Looks like there are mounting differences and the LCD driver board appears different. If there are no differences in the wiring I would at least try it since you have both panels and the different cables

@oldturkey03, just did a comparison on wiring, it seemed that they are quite different, so, they are not switchable. But thanks for this head's up.

Have you tried it with the 2011 wire? Let me see if I have the wiring diagram for both years to see where they differ. Would be great if you could repurpose the one you already have.
