Does this little cable near the battery board do anything? I got a replacement battery and this cable is a bit different than the one on the original battery and the wire inside is exposed. Just want to be safe and hope it's okay. Thanks!

It looks like you've pulled the battery board fully off the battery assembly. The cable end is attached to the battery where a thermal sensor sits with a second on the end of the thin cable.
Loss of the thermal sensor will prevent the battery from working properly.
