Home Button works only sometimes!

Hi,
I've got an iPhone 8 which had several falls. After the last one, the home button with the touch ID stopped working. But, recently, I've realized that sometimes the home button actually works and clicks! but it only sometimes works, like a few minutes, at specific angles and I would have to press really hard. I once got my fingerprint registered while it was working.

This leads me to think that actually the iPhone Home Button & Fingerprint do work!!
Q) ^^ is this correct?

Q) Now, how would I want to know if it's a loose wire? I don't want to actually go ahead and disassemble the iPhone, but I'm not sure! I have the tools for it, but the last time I disassembled an iPhone it was my 5s ~4 years ago.

The most common cause for the home button on the 8 series to stop working is a micro tear in the flex, the one that goes from the screen to the logic board. If the phone hasn’t been opened and as you said the problem occurred after a drop I would suspect that the Turtle IC on the home button assembly or the home button itself has become damaged. The Turtle IC sensors when the home button is pressed and after a drop the solder balls under it can crack causing your problem.

I would open the phone up and check the home button connector is seated properly both on the home button assembly and the logic board. You will also need to try a replacement screen. If this doesn’t fix the problem you will have to use assistive touch. If the home button itself is damaged you will need to take it to an Apple store. If it is the Turtle IC you will need to send it to a reputable repairer. The repair cost for the Turtle IC will be around $100.

The screen is cracked, so I anyways want to change it in the first opportunity I get. But, won't I be losing True Tone? Correct me please if I'm wrong.

Also, the Turtle IC, does it affect only the home button or both the home button + touch ID?
