My SSD will not show up on computer

I have a custom built PC that I built myself. I recently bought an extra 500GB of storage because I was running out on my other drive. When I connected it however it does not show up as a usable storage device. When I go deeper into the settings I can see that it is connected but I am not able to use/see it on the windows file explorer. I have tried several methods to fix it including getting a new cable however it still does not work. If anyone could help I would be grateful as I am tired of deleting everything that I don't constantly use just to free up space.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Are you connecting ssd drive as a second drive externally like a ssd to usb adaptor? either way you need to partition the secondary drive and set a simple volume to it to be recognized by computer. If your drive is not hardware or water damaged it should work. You can search disk management for more info. hope that helps.
