TOSHIBA SATELLITE A505 screen is black, EXCEPT WHEN I USE FLASHLIGHT!

My Satellite A505 laptop has a black screen, EXCEPT I CAN SEE THE TEXT WHEN I PUT A FLASHLIGHT ON IT !! Someone asked another user re flashlight, so I checked. What does that mean?

i means the backlight isn't working, could be an issue with the screen or the motherboard
