Screen won’t turn on

Why won’t my screen turn on even when the laptop is on? The laptop only turns on when it’s connected to a power source but the screen doesn’t. I already replaced the battery but that didn’t do anything.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hi @ang3la

Does the battery charge light on the laptop come on when the charger is connected to the laptop, but the laptop is not started?

In regards to the display, try connecting an external monitor to the laptop and when it has booted up, press the appropriate function keys to extend the display to the external monitor and check if you have a display on it. Sorry to be so vague but depending on the exact model number of the laptop it could be one of several combinations e.g. Fn + F9, Fn + F5 etc. Look for the monitor symbol on the F keys.

If there is a display showing on the external monitor, then shine a torch (flashlight) at an angle close to the laptop's screen and check for any images. They will be very faint if they are there so trying this in a darkened room may help to see them. If you can see them then there is a backlight problem either in the display or on the motherboard.

Further testing would be required to find out where and why. The same would apply if the battery showed that it wasn't charging.

Has the laptop been dropped or gotten wet at all?

What is the full model number of the laptop, as shown on the information label on the bottom of the laptop?
