My SP has the screen white but plays games fine.

After turning on the GBA, the screen goes blank but the sounds play. Games load and button input with the game works fine, so the game appears to run fine. The only problem is the video output.

I swapped the screen for another one that I know works perfectly and the GBA shows the same issue no matter the screen, so it must be a damaged connector or something with the motherboard.

Where should I start?

Hi Nan!

I know that if the ribbon cable is not all in the connector, it can show the same issue you got now. Is it deep enough in the connector, for like 100% sure and locked? If yes, then I'm afraid you should replace the motherboard... Could be the connector or any other micro component which failed.

Hello koppie007.

Yes, before making this thread I swapped the screen and tested it in another SP that I know works, and I confirmed it wasn't an issue related to the screen. It must be something with the motherboard.

Thing is, I don't know where could I start to troubleshoot my issue. Maybe the connector works but it doesn't get the video signals right?

Thanks!

@anana Yes, I think the connector is done for, as everything else is actually working. Could also be a capacitor.. It's hardy to say to be honest :(.
