Known as the ''PS2'', it is a sixth-generation video game console first released by Sony in Japan in March 2000. The United States saw it later in 2000 with the SCPH-30000. Repair of this device requires only common tools, but can get tricky.

Grinding noise with game but dvd works fine

I just got a Fat PS2 and the game Everywhere Roadtrip but when I put the game in there is a grinding noise as if the 'disc spinner' isn't finding the hole or something. I put in a DVD, I haven't gotten a second game to test, and that seems to work with no issue. I looked at the disc and there isn't any warping or anything I can see at least.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

It might be the fan making the noise. I'd open the device up and see if there is any built up dust or debris in the machine. I'd also look at the disk drive assembly to see if there are any broken components.

Your Laser is dying, I had this problem with my Xbox 360. You got to change the laser screws or buy a new laser.

If the laser is dying, how can it play DVDs?

by

@guardian10 DVDs can be played with weak lasers but games need a stronger laser.
