My Macintosh Color Classic turns on by just switching the power button

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone of you had a similar issue as mine. Please let me explain what happened to my system (FYI I was following Branchus Creations’ video in Youtube as a reference).

I have a Macintosh Color Classic which was totally dead when I obtained it thus it has been recapped (At this point, all capacitors on the logic board were replaced including some of the core capacitors of the analog board which were located at the center).

It was then working for a while but suddenly the screen blacked out. So I have then replaced the 330uF/400V capacitor on the analog board and again, it was working fine for a while.

Unfortunately, it blacked out again so I have recapped every single capacitor on the analog board but so far I was never able to resolve the black screen issue.

It was then when the Color Classic started to behave strangely. As you know, the Color Classic is supposed to start when you press on the start key on a Macintosh keyboard but in my case it will power up right after I have turned on the power switch on the rear side. Beside of this behavior, I am also hearing a continuous ‘clicking‘ sound all the way (and there is no screen).

I hear the hard drive spinning but don’t think it is booting the OS.

If someone please could share some light on this matter I would be really grateful.

Kind regards
