Mixer won't turn on. Sometimes if I give it a tap it will turn on
Sometimes its a toss of a coin if it turns on when I plug it in. Sometimes if I give a tap it will turn on.
Is this a good question?

Did you review questions reated to KitchenAid Mixers? If your question is unanswered then you'll have to examine wiring from plug to main power switch with a multimeter checking for continuity on both wires to the switch.

Can't find any fault in the posted answer, and would have inferred from the description, that you're dealing with a 1) loose connection or 2) a broken wire, and that the physical motion of 'tapping' causes the connection/wire to complete the power circuit - and the motor is energized. A continuity check of the power cord connection/contacts, would be the first place I would check/test.
