Hi,

What is the make and model number of the combo unit?

Could be a problem with the belt or the pulley perhaps

by

i pulled off the front panel, i can't see anything...maybe water pump? i'm disabled and not sure i have the hand strength to get the clamps off...and I am in an apartment at 10pm so I can't make much noise at the moment. model 417.98702891. i'm giving it more time to cool down right now.

the basket seems to move too easy

by

It's most likely this coupling, between motor and water pump.

Hi,

Here’s a link that shows where the drive belt is for the washer.

It also has a video that shows how to replace it if it is faulty.

If it is broken search online using the manufacturer’s part number only i.e. 134511600 to find suppliers that suit you best.

the washer belt is in tact from what I can see

ok, i banged my head on it (by accident, maybe it helped?) moved the belt/pulley manual, rotated the dial....and it's some how working. i really don't think it was of balance because there were only a few light items in it....i'll have to experiment more tomorrow

Hi,

Hopefully is is not the washer timer that is the problem.

was the smell more electrical burning smell than a rubber burning smell perhaps?

You should be able to start the timer from anywhere on the dial and it should progress from there.

Unfortunately if the timer is faulty, it cannot be repaired as there are no separately available internal parts for it. it comes a s a complete assembly

by

the smell was coming from the bottom, not the top were the dial is. ....not electrical at all(I know that smell from the night my parents fridge caught on fire from a power surge and then my house got hit my lightening right outside the room I was sitting in!)....just rubber, not really burning, just smelled like rubber.....the timer on the regular setting went a few years ago....i think you were the one that talked me through that....I've just been using the other settings....easy fix for that!

@simplymyself21

The only thing that's likely at the bottom is a worn snubber ring perhaps. Does the machine shake a lot when operating?

Here's a video that may help.

I linked this on the assumption that the part # for the snubber ring being a Frigidaire part (5308002385) even though your model is a Kenmore it will hopefully be the same procedure (rebadged Frigidaire perhaps or made to order for Kenmore by Frigidaire - all the parts are by Frigidaire)
