updating windows deleted os

ok so a few days ago windows popped up and I selected “update and restart” after the update had finished it deleted my os and the “reboot and select proper boot device” text popped on my screen. because of that I had to reinstall windows and now the same update popped up again, should I update now?

maybe look at making a system restore point before applying updates.
