Why a 16gb says it is only a 8gb in itunes!
Hey i was just wondering what was wrong woth my iphone 3GS 16gb i just purchased. In settings about the model says it is MC132X which means it is a 16gb but in itunes it registers as a 8gb what do i need to do to fix it??
Is this a good question?
What is the serial number of your iPhone?
by Matt Barnes
As a bit of additional info, giving us the serial number will allow us to identify your iPhone...it's unfortunately possible that if you bought this phone second hand you may have inadvertently received an 8GB. It's quite possible you bought a refurb model that had it's logic board inadvertently replaced with an 8 GB model...

The serial number of the phone is 87931WW93NQ. And thanks for the info :-)

Last three digits 3NQ translate into, White 16 GB iPhone 3GS.
A 16GB 3GS connected to iTunes shows a Capacity of 13.6 GB.

have you got more than 8gb stored on it? I wouldn't panic if you have. It may just be a software glitch that will correct with a restore (make sure you're backed up) or hard reset if you have recently added new items.
