replace Hinge or backcover?

Hi

I need to replace the hinge or back cover on my macbook pro 15. Can I buy the parts from you to do this job?

My screen works fine. The hinge has become separated from the display back.

If the clutch cover is cracked then you will need to replace the display assembly which is available from iFixit here

but if hinges have come loose or fallen off then use this guide to find the screws and tighten them up.

Hope this helps.

so wait, you can't just replace the clutch cover? you have to replace the whole display unit?

You may want to look for a clutch cover on Ebay that you can install.

i just ordered a replacement one, but maybe i misinterpreted your reply to OP's post. so you don't need to replace the WHOLE display assembly, correct? or do you?

because you replied saying "If the clutch cover is cracked then you will need to replace the display assembly which is available from iFixit here"

the clutch cover is only around a $15 part, but i'm wondering if i made a mistake buying it if i can't just take out the old one from my MBP and swap it with the replacement (without having to buy a new display).

I spoke prematurely, after further research you can just buy the clutch cover and install it, but the way you are wording it makes it sound like the display has broken away from the case and in that case you need new hinges. The clutch cover is just the piece of black plastic covering the display cable and it would have no connection to the display "unhinging" from the body.

The clutch cover cannot be installed however while the display assembly is still fastened to the machine.
