Shot or lost AM/FM Functionality

Hello world. I am putting this out there. My family has a 2006 Dodge Caravan, and it was functioning until over 1 or 2 years ago when it stopped subsequently Receiving music from my families favorite stations, and the Cassette Deck along with the Disk Slot stopped receiving ANY power, whereas before the darn thing became shot, the AM/FM Function would stop and start. The clock still works, but so far that’s all. Is it an issue with a fuse, or is it something internal such as the Caps? Please respond because I want music again.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Hi @therepair

There are 3 fuses associated with the audio system #5, 14 & 20, so you may want to check all of them to make sure that they’re all OK. The clock uses a different fuse so that is why it still works.

2 of the fuses i.e. 14 & 20 feed directly to the radio and the amplifier respectively, but fuse #5 feeds through the accessory relay which is operated by the ignition key. If your front cigarette lighter is working OK then fuse #5 is also OK

Here’s a composite image of the power supplies to the radio unit taken from the 2006 Dodge Caravan service manual that may help. It shows how the power gets to the radio and amplifier. If the fuses are all OK, check that power is getting to the connector pins on the radio and amplifier as marked on the wiring diagram and if it is there OK then the problem is in the radio (or amplifier)
