Why do my buttons not pop back?

Hey everyone.

I once opened up my Dual Shock 3 to clean it. Once I put it back together, I noticed the buttons don’t pop back up as they should once pressed. After reopening it, there seems to be nothing causing this. At least, from what I can see. I screwed everything tight and yet it seemed to not fix it.

Even when I apply pressure from the inside on the rubber against which the plastic is meant to press, it remains loose and sometimes gets stuck in the process of me using those buttons.

Is there like a reason for this I don’t know of? I’d really like to use this controller again for games that don’t support the Dual Shock 4 on Playstation 3.

Sincerely,

Ryan

Hi,

If you’re asking about the trigger buttons, here’s the ifixit DualShock 3 Trigger Buttons Replacement guide, that may help.

You can check if the restore spring action is still OK or if the buttons are broken etc.

Replacements are available online. (supplier example only). Just search for PS3 trigger button parts to get results for suppliers that suit you best.
