Hi,

Process of elimination to determine whether it is a software problem or a hardware problem or simply user error.

Have you pressed Fn Lock + F5 (both keys together) to see if this restores the touchpad? (Fn + F5 disables the touchpad)

If no good, to navigate through the laptop, connect a USB mouse to the laptop and then check the status of the touch pad in Device Manager to see if it is installed and working correctly according to the OS.

To get to Device Manager in Win 10, press the Win key + the x key (both together) and then select and click on the Device Manager link that appears.

When in Device manager check in either Mice and other pointing devices or Human Interface devices to locate the touchpad hardware entry.

If there is a yellow exclamation mark next to the entry there is a driver problem. Right click on the entry and click on Update drivers and follow the prompts. You need to be online for this to work.

If there is a red cross next to the entry, right click on the entry and click on enable and then check.

You can check the status of the touch pad by right click on the entry > Properties > General tab > Device status box. If working OK it should state, “this device is working OK”

If it shows something else what does it say?

At this point its looking like a hardware problem and the laptop will have to be opened to further investigate the problem
