Why is my tablet not charging or turning on

My tablet is not showing the charging sign and will not power on it also vibrates and lights up for a second when I press the power button. I tried rebooting it by holding down the power and the volume up button but it just vibrates. Is my tablet completely destroyed or is there something I can do?

Hi @rhee18,

Have you tried using a different known working, compatible charger or connecting the tablet to a computer’s USB port to see if it charges?

Have you tried a different known working compatible charging cord and see if it charges?

Visually inspect the tablet’s charge port using a strong light and a magnifying glass to make sure that the port is OK i.e. no damaged pins and that there is no debris in the port enclosure, which may be preventing a good electrical connection. If there is any debris, use a vacuum cleaner to try and remove it. Do not use a metal pin or probe as you may damage the pins or cause electrical problems in the tablet.

If the port appears to be damaged, replacement charge port boards (supplier example only) are available online. Just search for Galaxy Tab S6 charge port board to get results that suit you best.

here's a teardown video that may help if you have to replace the charge port.

Thank you for your response. I just tried different chargers they didn’t work until I plugged it into my computer but it was stuck on the power up screen where it says Samsung galaxy and powered by android and then it cut off and now it’s not coming on or doing the vibrating thing anymore.

@rhee18

With it plugged into a computer, can you turn the phone off and see if it just charges only?

It isn’t charging at all and it’s not coming on and holding the power button doesn’t make it vibrate and light up anymore. I tried changing the cables again and plugged it into an outlet and my computer.

If it appears totally dead it may be because the battery is now completely drained due to the fact that it can't be charged.

You may have to change the charge port board or contact a mobile phone repair service if you can't do it yourself..
