MBP13”2018 Black Screen Problem

I just got the infamous Black Screen of Death yesterday. It worked perfectly before, and I turned it off before packing it. Next thing I know, I opened the lap and nothing showed up, not even the apple logo.

The screen backlight works: the screen does light up and changing brightness via the touchbar changes the brightness of the screen - it just doesn’t show anything. I tried resetting NVRAM and SMC but it didn’t work. Connecting to an external monitor via HDMI works.

I suspect that it might be the display cable that’s at fault. There was one time when I booted the computer, the apple logo appeared shortly before glitched and disappeared. I haven’t touched the cable yet tho.

I would appreciate any help. Thanks a lot guys!

Ah! This is not a simple cable issue ;-{

The 2016 onward Intel systems use a split design moving the T-CON board from within the display lid to the upper case running the display lines through the clutch cover. The older 2015 retina model used a iDP data connection between the logic board and the lid, here the iDP cable runs a very short distance within the uppercase. This short cable does not fail! The cables between the T-CON board and display to the LCD panel.

Sadly, these cables as well as the T-CON board are part of the display assembly and can’t be replaced on their own.
