Screen won't close flush after screen replacement

I am replacing a damaged screen and pretty much completed the repair but when it came time to close up the phone it would not close flush on the right side near where the flex cable is. I closely inspected the clips and they line up exactly with the old clips. I tried looking at the frame to see if it was bent or warped anywhere and I didn’t see anything. I tried installing the old screen (without the heat shield) and it fit flush. My next theory is I didn’t fold down the flex cable correctly underneath the heat shield but I don’t know how to test for that and I don’t want to peel up the heat shield adhesive repeatedly without a clear plan. I will upload a photo of the problem once I am able to borrow a friends phone.

Hi,From what I can understand from your problem it could come from two potential problems. If you used adhesive strips to close down the device it may be preventing the screen from fitting correctly .It is either that or the flex cable problem you mentioned.I had a similar problem with an Original iPad Air repair where the flex cables would not sit properly under the screen so I had to redo the whole repair not saying you have to to.My best recommendation in this case is remove the screen and when you are putting the screen back on the phone try to when you trying to close it close the screen on the side it won’t fit properly on.If this still does not work to any avail then it most likely your screen.Since your previous broken screen still fits fine your aftermarket screen may not be of a high quality bro I suggest buying a new better quality aftermarket screen from ifixit or Trusted Amazon sellers or Apple original parts that you could find on EBay.

You were right! So I tried removed the heatshield and refolded the flex cable higher up so the grey bar (touch module) was closer to the home button and could properly slot in the appropriate gap on the phone side. For people wondering if they have the same problem try closing the phone and just before it closes shine a bright flashlight through the gap. Does it look like it's going to hit something on the way down. Pay attention to orientation too, took me a few tries before I realized I was moving it in the wrong direction.
