Why won't my computer get past the boot screen?

When I try to boot my mac it get the apple logo and progress bar but will just sit there when it gets to the end. I have no idea what could be causing this. I do not beleve its has to do with the gpu as there is no artifacts whatsoever.

It was the battery! I put in a battery from another machine and it works fine now!!!
