iPod thinks the power button be being pushed. It also keeps rebooting.

I was working on the headphone jack, and when I put my iPod Touch 1st Gen back together it was reading as the power button is being constantly pushed. I have taken it apart 4 times now and I reclined everything. Restored the device a few times as well. Right now I have it sitting inside a bowl of rice to extract any moisture. The device powers on fine if you have it plugged into the computer, but as soon as it starts up it goes right to "slide to power off". I can cancel that though and use it like normal until it shuts off.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Have the same problem i believe. This has happened to the last two 1st gens i have worked on. Does the exact same thing even with the back cover off. if you hold down the home button for 6 seconeds the ipod will shut off as if you where doing a hard reset. sometimes it will start working for a small period of time and then act up again. Any help is appreciated!

Mine does this too. I dont know a proper fix, but holding down the power button constantly seems to stop it. Its really hard to use it like that though, and I've made sure the screen lock is set to "never".. Any real.fix would be appreciated :D
