Water and ice not working with filter in place, works with filter out.

Our fridge suddenly stopped making ice and dispensing water. As usual, I assumed it was the filter (near time to replace). I took the old filter and put a new one in, and nothing: no water dispenser (you CAN hear the valve working) and no ice fill.

Many forums refer to the filter as being bad - we tried the new filter, and it does not work; however, the interesting thing is that the water comes out fine if you take the filter out. This problem seems localized to the mechanism inside the fridge where you load a filer.

I do not believe it to be the inlet valve assembly, or the water would not flow freely with the filter out.

Hi @redsoxrobbe,

Just to verify that all is correct as per the valves etc, here’s the tech sheet for the refrigerator.

Run the diagnostic test Step 25 (also perhaps check Steps 20 thru 24 as well)

FYI it takes 2 valves for water to flow to either the dispenser or the ice maker. There is a main valve plus a separate valve for the dispenser and one for the ice maker
