Here’s the part you need to scare up!

  • AMD Radeon HD 6770M 512MB. Apple P/N 661-5967
  • AMD Radeon HD 6970M 1GB. Apple P/N 661-5968
  • AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2GB, Apple P/N 661-5969

They are hard to come by as many burned out from heavy use and lack of cleaning the dust out. Make sure you get a REAL Apple unit as the boards firmware is custom to Apple.

@danj

Will any of those parts be faulty?

by

@beanman56 - These are all the MXM GPU boards this model used. Finding a good working one will be hard.

I'm still looking for a replacement for my 2011 27" iMac ;-{ This will be the third board I've burnt and so far the two I had gotten were bad ;-{

@danj i wish apple didn't make such a bad mistake,

Are there any other ideas for fixing it

by

@beanman56 - Some people have gotten a bit more life after baking the board, this is only a short term fix.

by

@danj would it work as and external display if i can't get it to work,

or does it need to work for the external display part of it
