Do the ifixit MacBook Pro keyboards work with genuine ones?

If I were to use a keycap from an original, genuine MacBook Pro keyboard, would they fit on an ifixit replacement keyboard?

Specifically, I have a late 2012 Macbook Pro and I’m purchasing this keyboard, MacBook Pro 13" Retina (Late 2012-Early 2013) Keyboard

Why are you replacing the keycaps?

What language is your keyboard layout. I would just get the correct one.

Replacing the keycaps is not something I recommend as they are tricky! More often than not people damage them in the process of taking them off or putting them on.

Apple gets keyboards from a few different suppliers, so unless you know which one yours is you could just end up with a mess! Apple 13” Retina Key Caps

I have the MacBook Pro (late 2012) A1425 which has the type J switches. I'm aware that it's a very risky process and more often than not you will end up damaging something, but I'm wondering if they’d be compatible with the keyboard I’ve purchased from ifixit.

@Nickuhhh - That I can't answer, If its from the same source then it is the same keyboard. But what are you key layout are you looking for? There are other sources for other layouts.

Don't forget this is a US layout not an ISO layout which is a completely different case setup!

Yes! There are two different cases for the different keyboards! This iFixit one is US layout.

Sorry if I wasn't clear enough, but I'm asking if I could take the keycap from my current genuine laptop and swap it for one of the keycaps in the iFixit replacement keyboard? I know that iFixit sells quality parts, yet not genuine ones (correct?), so are the key switches similar enough that the keycaps are cross-compatible?

by

@Nickuhhh - No I got your ask, I can't answer it as I don't know what the iFixit store is selling. But thats just the answer for your direct question.

Now before you even go down that direction... What is your system a US or ISO (all other countries)??

The iFixit keyboard is a designed to fit the US case not the ISO case they are very different!
