A white screen has all the colors on. A black screen has them all off.

That line segment is not turning off the red and is likely a connector issue, but could be the screen or drive circuitry. None of that is a simple fix.

@ruggb Any possible guidence if it is a connector issue?

You must open the computer up, find the connectors leading to the monitor and for pin type, disconnect/reconnect them, maybe a few times to clean the contacts. In the case of flex cable connectors, rubbing the contacts on the cable gently with a pencil eraser. There are also connectors behind the monitor which are much more difficult to get to.

The trick for the flex cable connectors is not to break the connector when opening. They are very delicate but they do open easily if you are doing it right. Refer to youtube videos. If cleaning connectors does not solve it, then it is either a deteriorated cable with an open trace or a bad monitor.

This is probably a bad ribbon cable or the ribbon cable has come out of the holder a little. either way first step is usually to reflow the solder by just touching it with a solder pen to melt it and move to next one. check that it is plugged in flush with the locking connectors. If this doesn’t fix it you may have to replace the ribbon if posible or if not buy a new screen from aliexpress or alibaba
