This is the email I received from iFixit:

Hello Mark,

Thank you for your response.

On the internet are many information which are not always correct, because everybody can spread his meaning.

We kindly ask you to let it drain to 0% and then to charge it up to 100% again.

Do this procedure for the first 20 cycles, and afterwards you don't have to do this procedure anymore.

Please don't hesitate to contact me in the future if you experience any problems I can help you with.

Best regards,

Sarah (iFixit EU Team)

20 charges seems excessive or am I misunderstanding them?

@markaitken - I've never done that. I'm just a volunteer answering questions. Maybe you need to contact them on what their reasoning is. Maybe it's a typo? 20 should have been 2.

I did reply to them at the time and they confirmed 20 but I think I should get a second opinion. Thanks.

@markaitken - I've been fixing Mac systems (replacing a ton of batts) and I've only done 2 cycles and more is wasteful of the limited cycles your battery has Determine battery cycle count for Mac notebooks. wasting twenty cycle counts is just beyond reason. SMC doesn't need that many to set the low and high water points so your system doesn't go into sleep mode prematurely Set sleep and wake times for your Mac

The battery comes with instructions to only recharge twice but the same company that sells them is telling me to charge 20 times. It is confusing and I tend to think the 2 times charge makes more sense.
