Washer Dryer makes a knocking noise when spinning at fill speed

Hi All,

I have an LG Washer Dryer unit F1496ADP4.

This unit is an inverter direct drive unit.

When spinning at full speed the machine makes a thumping knocking sound.

It happens will all loads even an empty machine.

Machine has been levelled correctly.

When off I can spin the drum and it makes no noise but I can rock the drum back and forth and makes a banging/knocking sound.

Please advise what the issue could be?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hi,

I’m not familiar with your model but looking at the parts layout from the service manual there are suspension leg dampers shown here (part # K610 & K611) and also a shock absorber damper shown here I think as it is not shown in the parts layout.

Try running the diagnostics for the machine and check if any error codes are shown.

If there are any error codes shown the manual describes what the most probable cause is.

If none shown, then perhaps you may have to check the suspension leg dampers as these are used in most washers to stop the tub from banging about during operation.

Notes:

To use the service manual online is awkward as you have to select the page number at the bottom of the document page and click Go every time you wish to change the page. To download the manual you have to register with the website.

The manual is the correct one for your model. Note the model numbers at the top of the pages I linked.

Hopefully this is of some help
