MyiPod suddenly quit charging on my Sony AM/FM Digital XDR-S10HDiP.
Flashes Cannot Detect. It will charge when plugged in with USB charger, Then it plays on the Sony but not charge.

It won't charge but plays on it sounds like the dock connector has either a short or a couple of bend pins. If you can, look closely and see if you notice any of that. Also, spray a few puffs of canned air or similar in it to remove any debris that may be preventing it from making contact. Do the same on the iPod as well. This could be the cause for not being detected and thus not being charged.
Should that not work you may have to disassemble the Sony and check around connector CN602. Download the service manual for the Sony from here to work on it. Let us know what you find.

Thank you for your answer. Sorry it took so long to answer. It took enlarged photos of the pins in both devices. No bent pins. I cleaned the best I could. The iPod seems dirtier than the Sony. I am much too old to take the Sony apart and don't have the energy.
Hit enter too soon. I will just have to charge the iPod separately
and continue listening on the Sony but thank you for your help.

Sarah Mitchell the issues seem to be with your Sony and not your iPod. Did it charge on it before? Explain this "Flashes Cannot Detect. " a bit more.

I know it is with the Sony, I was hoping someone could help. I have probably had both since 2006. My iPad had always charged on the Sony before but now when I turn it on Cannot Detect flashes on the Sony screen. It won't charge,
