a1226 fan in a1150

I was wondering if it's possible to replace a worn out a1150 fan with a a1226 one. I Think the connector may be different, but is it possible to resolder the wires in order to make it work?

I've already done that because the fan was unable to spin. It was a year ago, when I bought this macbook used.

If your fan is just being noisy it is usually because the bearing has gone dry. You can remove it from the mounting bracket. On the top is a piece of paper in the center of it. Peel the paper back it will expose a hole in the center of the fan blade. Put a drop or 2 of 3-n-1 oil or some graphite powder in the hole. That should resolve the problem.

Unfortunately, the connectors are different and they are not cross-compatible.

It may be possible to put the A1150 connector on the A1226 fan, but you would have to do some research and check the voltages on each fan. I don't recommend changing the connectors as you may end up shorting out your logic board.

You can find replacement A1150 fans here.
