Can I replace PS4 pro power supply capacitor (blown)?

Hello,

My PS4 pro power supply capacitor 450V 150uf is blow due to I trying to check with multimeter to find out why my PS4 pro cannot turn on. I plugged to wall outlet and use the multimeter on this capacitor and then it blow! (Back side of the PCB has no damage)

Can I buy new capacitor 450V 150uf and replace the broken one?

Is there other thing I have to check?

Hi,

Yes you can certainly replace it.

Make sure to have the correct specs.

(Side note)if you’re having s hard time finding an exact match, you can allow a tolerance of about 10% higher on your voltage rating. You cannot take something lower than 450V.

Capacitance ( uF) needs to be the same.

Capacitor have polarity. Make sure to place it the right way. (Let me know if you have a question about that)

A quick suggestion, take the old cap off and at least check both sides of it for a short with a multimeter, and check your fuse as well.

I’m also trying to buy another 450V 100uf (the brown one in the photo) for spare part too. But unfortunately I cannot find the 100uf. Can I use 450V 150uf instead?

Not reccomended.

You should try to find 100uf with a slightly higher voltage.

Did you try digikey.com?
